ICCPR Report Submitted to UN

The HRCS has submitted a report to the UN Human Rights Committee on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) in Scotland.

HRCS members were invited to send in issues they wanted raised with the UN Human Rights Committee, which holds the hearing on UK compliance with the ICCPR on 1st and 2nd July 2015.  We are so pleased that so many members responded detailing their concerns, supported by evidence including research and statistics, which makes our report much more substantial.

Of course the headline issue is that we want the UK challenged on the proposal to abolish the Human Rights Act and potentially withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights.

Please read the report and we look forward to your feedback. ICCPR Submission final

Thanks to Scottish Women’s Aid for copying the report for the UN Committee and sending off to Geneva.
