Warning of rise in hate speech in Scottish classrooms

In evidence to the Equality and Human Rights Committee in the Scottish Parliament, academics from Moray House School of Education have said that there are fears that Brexit has legitimised hate speech among young people. EIS, Scotland’s largest teaching union, also said that “the current political discourse around immigration is creating a climate which will exacerbate bullying and harassment of refugee and asylum seeking children, and children from visible/audible ethnic minorities, who are or are perceived to be refugees or migrants”.
