Call to end ‘phone tax’
Roza Salih, one of the Glasgow Girls, has launched a campaign to end a so-called ‘phone tax’ on immigrants and asylum seekers.
People seeking information on whether they or their families can remain in the UK are being charged £1.37 a minute to call a Home Office hotline. Those who call the UK Visas and Immigration contact centre, which is operated by the Home Office, are told to “have a credit card ready” before they can access information.
