MORE than 2,000 people gathered outside the US Consulate in Edinburgh in support of women’s rights following US president Donald Trump’s inauguration. The event was one of hundreds taking place across the world to coincide with the women’s march in Washington DC.

The Edinburgh march was organised by Leah Higgins and Calum Stewart, both aged 16. A similar march was also held in Glasgow.

Many people had travelled from towns and cities across Scotland to attend. They donned knitted pink hats and carried placards and banners with slogans such as “Love Trumps Hate” and “Dump Trump”.
