Charity leaders head up new poverty and equality commission

Nicola Sturgeon has announced the creation of a new poverty and equality commission after two years of campaigning by anti-poverty groups.
Douglas Hamilton, director of the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, has been appointed as chairman of the commission while Kaliani Lyle, former chief executive of Citizens Advice Scotland, is to be one of his deputies.
The commission was created following an independent report on how Scotland should be tackling poverty issues.
