Social security bill fails to ban hated private contractors

Scotland’s new social security bill will continue to allow private contractors to undertake disability assessments. This is despite promises to use legislation to ban the practice.

The draft bill has received widespread criticism over its apparent failure to address the issue of disability assessments.

Mark Griffin Labour social security spokesperson said the bill falls short on a series of promises, not least of which was a landmark pledge to use legislation to ban private contractors.
