Poverty & human rights – let’s discuss, 29th August, Edinburgh

In November 2018, the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Philip Alston, will be visiting the UK, and we expect that this will include a visit to Scotland.  The Special Rapporteur has invited written input for the preparation of his visit. This input will cover issues such as austerity, universal credit, Brexit, child poverty, the most significant human rights violations that people living in poverty experience, where and who he should visit, and so on.  You can find more details here: https://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Poverty/Pages/CallforinputUK.aspx

If you would like to either be part of a Consortium joint submission, or take part in discussions in order to inform your organisation’s submission, representatives of organisations are invited to a discussion meeting at 10am – 11.30am on 29th August in central Edinburgh.  Email hrcscotland@gmail.com for details and to let us know you are coming.
