Commission highlights the positive impact of the Human Rights Act

The Scottish Human Rights Commission has praised the ‘significant positive impact’ of the Human Rights Act on Scots law and the protection of rights.

In evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights, the Commission spoke about the ‘incremental development of a human rights based approach across Scotland’ and that it is important to preserve the Human Rights Act and build on it through further legislation to incorporate international human rights standards in Scots law.
