Challenging poverty in the UK

A pile of coins.

Last week, on 8th and 9th November, the UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights visited Scotland.

The Rapporteur Philip Alston met with those living in poverty, civil society groups and policy makers in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  The Human Rights Consortium Scotland met with him at a meeting arranged by the Scottish Human Rights Commission and had the opportunity to raise some of the key issues from our joint written submission – read this here.

You can also read submissions from other organisations here.

At the end of his visit to the UK, Philip Alston will then hold a press briefing on key findings from his visit.  You can keep in touch with developments online here or on Twitter @Alston_UNSR.
