Training: Incorporating International Human Rights into Scots Law, 19th August @ 9:30am
There are big plans in Scotland to incorporate the UNCRC into Scots law by 2021, and the National Taskforce is working on plans to incorporate more of our international human rights into Scots law.
This training is designed to enable civil society organisations and human rights advocates to increase their knowledge of human rights incorporation. Through expert input, using a variety of interactive tools, participants will have the understanding that they need to be able to influence key decision-makers at this opportune time.
At the end of the training you will:
- Understand what incorporation of international human rights into Scots law means
- Be able to advocate for the most effective human rights law in Scotland and its implementation
Working with key partners (Human Rights Consortium Scotland, Amnesty Scotland and Together), the training will be delivered by Dr Kasey McCall-Smith from the University of Edinburgh Law School.
The event will be on Zoom from 9.30am – 12noon.
We all know that online sessions can be tiring but don’t worry! -through use of interactive tools, case examples, & an all-important comfort break in the middle, you’ll come away feeling informed and energised for taking part in human rights debate.
Support for this event is provided by the University of Edinburgh’s ESRC Impact Acceleration Account through the Incorporating Human Rights in Scotland project.
