Consortium writes to Equalities and Human Rights Committee

the words human rights with lots of different coloured hands

In 2018, the Scottish Parliament’s Equalities and Human Rights Committee produced a report entitled ‘Getting Rights Right: Human Rights and the Scottish Parliament.’ The report made important recommendations for the Parliament, Scottish Government and public authorities, which would help to embed human rights into the legislative process in Scotland. They also aim to develop Scotland’s wider human rights culture, and improve civil society’s inclusion in international treaty monitoring. Many civil society organisations contributed to the enquiry which shaped the recommendations.

As it is now 2 years since the report was published, we have written to Ruth Maguire, Convener of the Committee, to ask for an update on the progress of these recommendations. Many of them were given a 1-3 year timeline for implementation, and we wish to share an update on their progress with our members.
