Consortium Submits Response to UN CRC Bill Consultation

The Consortium has responded to a Scottish Government consultation on the upcoming United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. The Bill would make the UN Convention justiciable in Scots law, providing additional protections for the rights of children.

We welcome the Bill, but ask the Equality and Human Rights Committee for clarification around who could bring a case based on the Convention to court. We have also asked the Committee to consider adding a right to independent advocacy to the Bill, as this can be crucial to help children to engage with the legal process.
