Human Rights Act Training Session with the British Institute for Human Rights, 19th February @10am
On 13th January 2021, following the Conservative party’s manifesto commitment to update the Human Rights Act, the Government’s Independent Review Panel published its consultation questions. This Review is looking at how the Human Rights Act (HRA) is working in practice and whether any change is needed.
Join this session (from 10-11:30am) led by the British Institute of Human Rights and Human Rights Consortium Scotland if you’d like to upskill yourself on our HRA and how it works for people in everyday interactions with public services and bodies in Scotland. We will also be exploring the impact of the Act on devolution. Refreshing your knowledge of the HRA could support you or your organisation to respond to the Review or to campaign more broadly to protect our Human Rights Act.
During the session you can also share your experiences of the Human Rights Act and what it means for you in your life or work. We’ll tell those in positions of power what you tell us!
We are doing our best to make sure that HRCS events and meetings are as accessible as possible. If you have particular access requirements, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing Rebecca@hrcscotland.org
