New Recording Available: Human Rights Act Training Session, 19th February 2021
On the 19th February 2021, the Consortium ran a joint training session on the Human Rights Act, alongside the British Institute for Human Rights (BIHR).
Eilidh Turnbull, Human Rights Officer at BIHR, delivered a presentation covering the history of the Act, and how it works to protect and promote human rights across the UK. Then, Mhairi Snowden, Director of the Consortium, delivered a shorter presentation on the impact of the Act in Scotland, focusing on the role it plays in Scotland’s devolution agreement. Mhairi also discussed the Independent Review of the Human Rights Act, the problems it presents, and the role civil society organisations can play in protecting the Act through the Review process.
