Consortium Calls Out UK Government's Latest Anti-Refugee Bill

The Consortium is proud to have joined over 320 charities, unions, businesses, & faith leaders from across the UK to write to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak about the Illegal Migration Bill. Together, we have expressed our horror that the Bill would shut the door to safety for asylum seekers, and urge the Prime Minister to scrap it entirely.

The letter also urges UK Government Ministers to be mindful of the language they use towards asylum seekers and refugees, which can be dehumanising.

Signatories to the letter have vowed to defend the right of all people to seek safety from war and persecution. We urge Rishi Sunak and his government to rethink all of their recent anti-refugee measures, and consider the basic human rights of families looking for protection.
