Red Cross report finds poor conditions for pregnant asylum seekers in Glasgow

 

A report by the Red Cross into the experiences of pregnant and asylum seeking women in Glasgow has found that the combination of poverty and poor housing posed serious health risks to asylum seekers with young families.  They have made a number of recommendations for change. These include to ‘develop a Scottish approach to human rights assessments for people with no recourse to public funds to ensure a clear and consistent approach to human rights assessments in Scotland which fits with Scotland’s National Action Plan for Human Rights.’
