Recommendations of review into teenager’s death to be partially implemented

A review into the death of Bailey Gwynne had recommended that teachers be given the statutory power to search pupils for weapons, but the Scottish government have rejected this recommendation.

However, they have said that they will seek a UK-wide approach to address concerns about the online sale and delivery of knives.  They will also include new guidance on weapons and violence in schools in its guidance on schools exclusions.
